For the second year in a row, the Accurate Background team supported non-profit Kids Around the World with a fundraiser to provide meals and playground equipment to South Africa. We kicked off our partnership with a little friendly competition. Team members competed to raise money to purchase meals to be packaged and sent to South Africa. The top two fundraisers received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be an Accurate Background ambassador for Kids Around the World and will spend two weeks on a humanitarian trip to Paarl, South Africa.
Quick Facts: Once a playground is uprooted in the United States, it cannot be rebuilt anywhere in the U.S. Kids Around the World recycles perfectly good playground equipment and sends it overseas to be built in communities where children do not have designated play areas.
Accurate Background raised over $8,000 total for meals, and the top two fundraisers Amanda Coats and Justine Quintos are planning their trip to help Kids Around the World deliver meals and build much-needed playgrounds. But the fun was far from over. After the funds were raised, the entire Accurate Background team took over the second floor of our building and packed 32,000 meals for Kids Around the World. That’s 4 hours of measuring, filling, sealing, and boxing! We foresee a long-lasting partnership with Kids Around the World as part of our overall commitment to social responsibility. Last year, two team members were fortunate enough to represent Accurate Background at a similar humanitarian trip to South Africa. Katie Hartley and James Kespradit spent two weeks in Paarl and Cape Town, South Africa. They helped distribute 135,000 meals and built two playgrounds.
